I had the wonderful opportunity to see and listen to our prophet this last Friday. What an amazing expeirience that was for me. I knew I was supossed to go to womens conferenc this year. Facing opposition in all forms leading all the way up to right before he entered the room. I knew that I was supposed to be right in the exact spot at that exact moment. Satan was working over time on trying to get me to not feel of the spirit while I whitnessed a propet of God speak.
You see change is hard for me and I almost did not go to womens conference this year because the person I normally go with was not able to go this year. So I thought how could I possibly go by myself and then I found out that another friend of mine was going and that they had extra room with them. I was so excited and yet sad for my friend who I go with every year. Anyway so I planned and arranged and all was well. The first day of the conference was wonderful and fabulous like always. I tried changing up my routine a bit and tried to make it to some classes that were outside of the Maryott center. whew I will never change that agian. Every year I just kind of stay put in the maryott center because I dont like to fight the crowds at these type of things. But this year I thought I would continue with my change it up motto. It was crazy. I did get in to see a class taught by Pres. Bott- Keith's mission President. He was amazing as usual and worth all the crazy pushy women I had to fight off to keep my place in line. So after all that I decided on Friday for all the classes I would just stay put in the Maryott center. I did. And let me tell you There is nothing like a Prophet of God coming to speak to bring out the worst in women. We all got up early in the morning got to BYU early and waited our turn to get in. We were in one of the lines and they let our line go in first and the women in the other line started booing because our door got opened first. I could not believe it. So we raced in and got good seats front and center 1 row back from the front. They were the best seats in the house. Eye contact with the prophet was guaranteed. I was so humbled and so excited at the same time. Anyway to make a long story short I stayed put all day long in those seats through every class which was wonderful. And I had to fight off freaky women all day. Including the women in front of us because they wanted their friends to sit by them they actually had the nerve to ask us to move over. And normally in that kind of situation I would have been so unconfrontational that I would have just left and found a different spot to sit in but I held my ground against the advesary that was in the form of a snotty women used to getting her way and said "NO". I had to sit there and watch through all my classes how they would whisper back and forth about me not moving and they would let their cell phones ring and they were reading books and being so loud and just really trying to disturb us so that we would have to move. They would hover over us and sit in the eisle and everything. I could not beleive the gall of these women. In between the classes I would get other women trying to take the seats that we all were sitting in and they would get really rude when I told them they were already taken and so on. Just a crazy time and this had never been my expierience for womens conference before. Usually I have sweet expeiriences with all the women I come into contact with. But there was a different feeling this year. It was electric in the air. And amidst all of that I had the sweet revelation that I was in the right place at the right time and That I was going to see a prophet of God and that satan was using every tactic to distract me. I did not yeild. And It was so wonderful....It was worth all of the heartache I went through to stay right there. My faith was strengthend and I was able to push through it and I got to see and make eye contact with the prophet. And earlier that day Sister Beck looked right at me and smiled too. I could feel her spirit talk to my spirit in that moment. I knew that she was a true servant of our Father in Heaven leading the relief society women of our church. Rolling forth the gospel in these latter days. One thing that Presedent Monson said in his talk was "find joy in the now". He said adversity is woven into the tapestry of our lives. Faith can help you endure your particular challenges. Challeges are nessesary for our growth and development and with enduring comes a willingness to press forward". And that is what I did that day. I pressed forward with faith and patience and the sweet rewards came. That day I felt like he was speaking right to me. I know he was speaking to all of us but that day the message was so clear to me. So strong and he spoke right to my heart. I am so thankful that a loving Father in heaven knows me.
